May 2026 Dairy Goat Webinar: Life Cycle Assessment: Overview of the U.S. Dairy Goat Production Project

Virtual

Presenters:

SDGA's University of Arkansas Research Team: Dr. Marty Matlock (Professor in the Biological and Agricultural Engineering Department), Uttuma Deb (PhD Student in Environmental Dynamics), Farzam Hosseinpour, Amir Shadjou, and Niaz Taghvaei

Description:

Building resilient and sustainable goat dairy systems requires looking beyond individual practices to the entire production system. Researchers from the University of Arkansas are leading a collaborative effort to develop a comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment of U.S. goat dairy production, paired with a systems‑based process model to support this analysis. This work aims to identify key inputs, environmental impacts, and decision points across multiple production scales. In this webinar, the project team will introduce the study, explain why a systems‑level approach is essential for goat dairy sustainability, and share how these tools can inform producers, researchers, and stakeholders moving forward.
